Exhibition with Alice Hume, May 2023
Sky and Earth, subtitled Foraging & Growing, was a collaborative exhibition with textile artist Alice Hume at the Historic Round Tower in Old Portsmouth in May 2023.
The show brought together two practices rooted in natural material exploration. Alice’s hand-woven textiles made from natural fibres such as flax, and Hollie Thornley’s ceramics shaped from locally foraged clay and natural forms. Shared workshops, demonstrations and creative dialogues underpinned the collaboration, celebrating the elemental qualities of earth and growth.
Sky and Earth invited audiences to engage with craft, process and materiality through a shared lens of slow making, connection to place, and the sensory qualities that both textiles and clay offer.
